Why now

AI makes almost everything cheaper to copy.

Software, content and process that once took a team years to build can now be reproduced in weeks. For a small company that cuts both ways: you can do far more with the people you have, and so can every new competitor.

The companies that come out ahead will run on AI at their core and know exactly which advantages are still theirs alone. That transition is what we do.

For small companies

Small teams have the edge now.

For a large company, going AI-native mostly means cutting: fewer people, new structures, years of reorganizing. That is slow, expensive and painful, so most will move cautiously. A small company has nothing to cut. You keep the team you trust and give each person AI that multiplies what they can do.

The path

Large:Getting the benefit means cutting headcount. Slow, costly and hard on everyone.

Small:Getting the benefit means adding capability to the people you already have.

Speed

Large:Layers of approval, legacy systems and long contracts slow every change.

Small:A few decision-makers and a handful of systems. Changes ship in weeks.

Know-how

Large:Spread across thousands of people, and it leaks with every departure.

Small:Sits with a few people, so it is easy to capture and build on.

The payoff

Large:Savings show up as smaller teams doing the same work.

Small:The same team takes on work that used to need a much bigger company.

That is why we focus on small companies: the upside of AI is biggest where there is nothing to cut and everything to add.

What we do

Two jobs, done together.

I.

Transition to AI-native

Not a chatbot bolted onto the side. AI built into how the work actually gets done.

  • Map how work really happens today, team by team
  • Decide where AI should do the work, not just assist with it
  • Build and roll out the agents, tools and workflows
  • Get your team fluent, so the change sticks

II.

Identify and retain your moats

Know what still makes you hard to copy, and make it stronger as you change.

  • Inventory what makes you defensible today
  • Separate the moats AI erodes from the ones it deepens
  • Turn your data, relationships and know-how into compounding advantages
  • Make sure the transition strengthens your moat instead of giving it away

Moat check

Not every moat survives AI.

A first pass at the questions we work through with you. The answers are different for every company, which is why we start by finding out what is actually yours.

Code and features

Erodes

If it can be described, it can increasingly be rebuilt by someone else. Read the note

Know-how in people's heads

At risk

Undocumented expertise is easy to lose and easy to imitate. Captured in your systems, it compounds. Read the note

Customer trust

Holds

People still buy from people they trust. AI can free up time for exactly that. Read the note

Distribution

Holds

When building gets cheap, owning the path to your customers matters more. Read the note

Proprietary data

Deepens

Data only you have becomes more valuable once AI can put it to work. Read the note

Domain expertise

Deepens

Hard-won knowledge of a niche or regulated field is slow to copy, and AI helps you scale it. Read the note

For individuals

One person can now run what used to take a team.

You don't need a company to work with us. If you're starting something, or already running a business on your own, we'll help you build it AI-native from day one.

I.

Starting a business

Start small, with AI doing the busywork and a moat from day one.

  • Pressure-test the idea and name what will make it hard to copy
  • Scope the smallest version you can sell, then build it with AI tools
  • Set up the back office: email, scheduling, invoicing, bookkeeping prep
  • Leave with workflows you understand and can change yourself

II.

Transforming a one-person business

Hand the repetitive work to AI and keep the parts only you can do.

  • Map where your week actually goes
  • Move inbox triage, follow-ups, proposals, content drafts and research to AI
  • Turn your know-how into templates, playbooks and data that compound
  • Keep your judgment and client relationships at the center

How it works

    Intro call

30 minutes on what you do, or want to do, and where your hours go.

  2. 02

    Working session

Together we pick the two or three changes with the biggest payoff.

  3. 03

    Build together

We set them up with you, so you can run and adjust them on your own.

    2 weeks
    You get
A prioritized plan with quick wins, effort and risks. The fee is credited toward a build sprint.

Q&A

Common questions.

Something else on your mind? Email succession@mati.bot.

Who is succession.bot for?

Small companies that want to run on AI without giving away what makes them hard to copy, especially tech-heavy and family-owned businesses. We also work with individuals who are starting a business or running one on their own.

Can you help me start a business, or run my one-person business with AI?

Yes. For a new business we help you find what will make it defensible, scope the smallest version you can sell, and build it with AI doing the busywork. For a one-person business we map where your week goes and move the repetitive work (inbox, follow-ups, proposals, research, admin) to AI, so your time goes to clients and judgment.

How it works for individuals

What does AI-native actually mean?

AI does real work inside your core processes, not just as a chat window on the side. People set direction, check the output, make the calls and own the relationships.

What is a moat?

Whatever makes your business hard to copy: proprietary data, customer trust, distribution, domain expertise, know-how. AI makes code and content cheap to reproduce, so knowing which of these you have, and strengthening them, matters more than it used to.

See the moat check

Do I need a technical team?

No. We build alongside whoever you have and leave behind tools and workflows your people can run and adjust.

Which AI tools do you use?

Whatever fits the job. We are not tied to one vendor, and usually combine off-the-shelf models and assistants with small custom agents where they pay off.

What happens on the intro call?

30 minutes on video. You tell us about the business and where you think AI fits. We tell you honestly whether we can help and what a sensible first step would be.

Book an intro

How many clients do you take on?

Three at a time, never more. Mati is also building businesses, so clients are chosen as carefully as they choose us. The intro call is where both sides find out if it's a fit.

How much does it cost?

Every engagement is a fixed-price package, agreed in writing before work starts, with no hourly billing. The intro call is free, and the audit fee is credited toward a build. You get the exact price in a short proposal after the call.

What about confidentiality and our data?

Your data and know-how are the moat, so we treat them that way: access only to what the work needs, tools that don't train on your data where possible, and an NDA if you want one.

Where are you based?

Vienna, Austria. We work remotely with companies and founders anywhere.
